When the 2026 offseason began for the Tennessee Titans, Mike Borgonzi had multiple questions to answer. Who was going to be the new head coach? What would the coaching staff look like overall? How will the roster look? All of these questions tie to the major theme that the Titans had; supporting Cam Ward.
When a team has a quarterback on a rookie deal, that is the time for there to be aggression with maximizing the roster as much as possible with the available resources. The Titans are heading into the second year of Ward’s rookie deal.
Ward showed Titans fans that he can make some solid plays but he could only do so much with limited help around him. After Tennessee's offseason moves, the Titans are in a much better spot but Jared Dubin from CBS Sports has one major question for the Titans when it comes to Ward. The question is fair to ask, but fans would argue that it's already been answered: "Did the Titans get Cam Ward enough help?"
Titans have provided Cam Ward with massive help during 2026 offseason
"Tennessee addressed the first part of that equation by signing Wan'Dale Robinson and drafting Carnell Tate with the No. 4 overall pick. But did the Titans do enough on the offensive line to make sure Ward has enough time to find his targets down the field? We'll find out in September." said Dubin.
First off, the biggest advantage that Ward has going into this season is having Brian Daboll as his offensive coordinator. Even though Daboll’s time as the head coach of the New York Giants didn’t go smoothly, no one can deny the reputation he has as a play caller.
Then you add in the signing of Wan’Dale Robinson and drafting of Carnell Tate, and the wide receiver room looks much better. Not to mention, Calvin Ridley is still in the mix and he gets a fresh start with a new play caller.
The last factor that is getting overlooked is how aggressive the Titans were in free agency to improve the defense. Having a solid defense can be a difference maker for a quarterback.
Both sides of the ball for the Titans got a lot better, and now it will be up to Ward to show what he can do with an improved unit. He has already shown promise, now it’s time to make it all work in his second season.
