The Tennessee Titans are moving forward with the second round of interviews in their head coaching search. The team met with Mike McCarthy extensively on Friday and Saturday. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is also scheduled for a second in-person interview, as is Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

A fourth finalist candidate has also emerged. The Titans are scheduling a second in-person interview with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, according to various reports.

Titans fans have feared Nagy would emerge as a front-runner throughout the entire process. With general manager Mike Borgonzi nearing a decision on the head coaching hire, Nagy is still among the favorites to succeed Brian Callahan.

Nagy and Borgonzi have an incredibly tight-knit relationship. They spent eight years together across two shared stints with the Kansas City Chiefs. Many national and local reporters connected Nagy to the Titans' head coaching vacancy back in October when Callahan was fired, and those predictions are trending in a strong direction.

It's worth noting Borgonzi is leading the Titans' coaching search, but he may not possess full autonomy when making the decision. President of football operations Chad Brinker, among other front-office staff members, have been thoroughly involved. If Borgonzi truly wants to hire Nagy, he'll have to convince his support staff, and owner Amy Adams Strunk, that he's legitimately the best candidate of the 16 options who were interviewed.

Nagy previously coached the Chicago Bears for four years. He went 12-4 and won Coach of the Year honors in his debut season. Nagy's Bears consistently regressed over the following three campaigns, and he was dismissed following a particularly lackluster 6-11 season.

Nagy then returned to the Chiefs under his mentor Andy Reid has been their offensive coordinator since 2023. His contract is set to expire and the Chiefs are considering staffing changes after enduring a disappointing campaign. The Titans may offer Nagy a lifeline, as his second in-person interview makes him a strong favorite to be named Tennessee's head coach.
