With all of the coaching candidates the Tennessee Titans have interviewed, there are many different directions general manager Mike Borgonzi could take. With the failure under Brian Callahan, the Titans have to find someone that is going to be an immediate upgrade.
The Titans missed out on John Harbaugh, who is expected to become the next head coach of the Giants. Then it was reported that the Falcons scheduled a second round interview with former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, one day before he meets with the Titans for a second time.
It’s getting closer to crunch time for the Titans to make a decision, but the most obvious candidate for the Titans is someone that fans should not be upset with. Quite frankly, it makes a ton of sense for different reasons.
Mike McCarthy continues emerging as Titans' most obvious HC candidate
According to Easton Freeze from AtoZ Sports Nashville, the Titans met with Mike McCarthy on both Friday and Saturday, making him an obvious candidate to emerge as the favorite to get the job.
McCarthy has an extensive resume that includes winning a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers and having offensive success with the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott. He took a year off of coaching this season after his contract with the Cowboys expired, but he could very well end up an NFL head coach for a third time.
Not only would he be an immediate upgrade to help Cam Ward, but McCarthy worked extensively with Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker in Green Bay. So, you have the connection within the building, and you would have a head coach who could help Ward immediately establish himself as an exciting franchise quarterback.
While McCarthy may not be the flashiest hiring the Titans could make, he would be a very solid option. He possesses a ton of experience, and has worked with successful quarterbacks in Dak Prescott and Aaron Rodgers. Titans fans, get ready. The time is coming for the organization to see who will come in to hopefully make the Titans competitive again.
