The Tennessee Titans are going to select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. That feels like a foregone conclusion at this point. When Ward officially becomes a Titan, general manager Mike Borgonzi must shift attention to surrounding the young quarterback with a better supporting cast. That means drafting weapons at wide receiver he can grow with.

Borgonzi has done a stellar job upgrading Tennessee's offensive line in free agency by signing Dan Moore Jr. to play left tackle and Kevin Zeitler at right guard. As a result, right tackle also got better with JC Latham sliding over to play his most natural position. By comparison, wide receiver has largely gone ignored and must be emphasized via the draft.

Borgonzi is now showing interest in one of the most explosive playmakers in the draft from a team fit perspective. The Titans are hosting Washington State wide receiver Kyle Williams on a pre-draft visit, according to a report from Easton Freeze. The Titans possess several ties to Williams that make his visit particularly intriguing.

Titans hosting WR Kyle Williams on pre-draft visit

Williams was outstanding for the Cougars this past season, producing career highs in every major receiving category. Williams recorded 70 receptions for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns. In 2023, he totaled 61 catches for 842 yards and six scores. His quarterback for that season? None other than Ward.

Ward transferred to Miami in 2024 after an outstanding 2023 campaign at Washington State, his second with the program. Williams was one of Ward's go-to targets, and pairing them together would undeniably be beneficial to Ward's early development. It's something the Titans should seriously be considering.

Williams possesses another link to the Titans that further enhances his chances of landing in Nashville. Titans offensive coordinator Nick Holz was actually his offensive coordinator at UNLV in 2022. That was Williams' final season with the Rebels before he transferred to Washington State. With Holz overseeing the offense, he accumulated 40 receptions for 541 yards and five TDs.

The Titans need to select multiple receivers during the 2025 NFL Draft. They have Calvin Ridley and little depth behind him. As currently constructed, head coach Brian Callahan will be overly reliant on first-round bust Treylon Burks and Van Jefferson to produce at the position. Given Williams' history with Ward and Holz, he would immediately contend for prominent snaps.
