The Tennessee Titans entered Monday's negotiation period in free agency with a massive need at offensive tackle. New general manager Mike Borgonzi responded by making the first big decision of his tenure. The Titans have signed free-agent offensive tackle Dan Moore to a four-year contract worth $82 million, according to multiple reports.

The contract includes $30 million in the first season, and $50 million in total guarantees, according to ESPN. It's a massive swing of the bat from Borgonzi. Moore will almost certainly play left tackle in Tennessee, meaning sophomore tackle JC Latham will be moving to right tackle.

Moore arrives in Tennessee as a four-year starter. In 2024, the former fourth-round selection out of Texas A&M played more than 1,100 snaps at left tackle. Pro Football Focus credited Moore with allowing a league-leading 12 sacks and 41 pressures.

Despite allowing consistent pressure, Moore's pass-blocking grade was a stellar 66.2. That was much improved from the 39.7 it was in 2023. That year, Moore was credited with allowing eight sacks and 55 pressures.

The Steelers seemed hellbent on replacing Moore in recent years. General manager Omar Khan spent consecutive first-round picks on offensive tackles in 2023 and 2024, drafting Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu. They clearly possessed no interest in retaining Moore.

The Titans struggled to field a quality right tackle this past campaign. Head coach Brian Callahan rotated through blocker after blocker attempting to find a solution who didn't totally derail the offense. He never found one. With Latham likely moving to the right side, Moore will replace Nicholas Petit-Frere in the starting lineup. Despite the questionable price tag, he should provide an upgrade.

The Titans are making Moore the ninth-highest paid tackle in the league, on a current basis. They are paying a premium to protect their next starting quarterback. After pending free-agent tackles like Alaric Jackson and Ronnie Stanley re-signed with their current teams, Moore was the best tackle to actually hit the open market. The Titans were aggressive.

And make no mistake, the decision to overpay for Moore is all about protecting the next starting quarterback. The previous regime failed to provide Will Levis with quality protection. Borgonzi doesn't want to repeat that mistake, regardless of who's under center throughout 2025.

Moore has played more than 4,000 snaps at left tackle. The Titans deem him talented enough to force their sophomore first-round pick Latham to undergo his second position change in as many offseasons. Latham will be going from left tackle to right tackle after making the opposite switch last offseason.

Borgonzi's first notable decision is a bold one, and it'll have a ripple effect throughout the entire roster.
