The Tennessee Titans traveled in bunches to watch Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward perform at his Pro Day on March 24th. The team's prospective No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft threw the football flawlessly in front of a collective that included general manager Mike Borgonzi, president Chad Brinker, head coach Brian Callahan, front-office assistants Dave Ziegler and Reggie McKenzie, offensive coordinator Nick Holz, and quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree, among others.

Mere days later, the Titans sent a similar group back to Miami to conduct a private workout with Ward. And while Borgonzi and Co. maintain that all options remain open with the No. 1 overall pick, the Titans are not sending the same contingent to watch Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter perform at Colorado's Pro Day on Friday.

Titans won't be at full strength at Shedeur Sanders' Pro Day

Ian Rapoport is reporting that Brinker and Callahan won't attend Colorado's Pro Day on Friday. The Titans will be present via other high-ranking team members, but missing the president and head coach is especially notable considering both Sanders and Hunter did not participate athletically at the NFL Combine. Friday's Pro Day marks the first time Sanders and Hunter will participate in a pre-draft athletic showcase.

It's worth noting the Titans plan to work out both Sanders and Hunter privately on April 9th. Rapoport says Brinker and Callahan will be present for that event. But essentially everyone that mattered attended Ward's Pro Day and private workout. If the Titans were strongly considering Sanders or Hunter at No. 1 overall, you'd assume the entire collective would want to maximize their opportunities to meet with, and evaluate, both prospects. That is not happening here, but it did happen with Ward. Nor did it happen with Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter, who's injury prevented him from being a full participant at Pro Day, altering the Titans' travel plans.

The Titans did previously meet with Sanders at the East-West Shrine Bowl. He did not throw the football or participate in practice. But meeting Sanders at the all-star showcase offered an opportunity that Ward did not provide. The Titans are also said to have hosted, or plan to host, both quarterback and Hunter on pre-draft visits to Nashville. Ward has already completed his in-person visit.

Perhaps the Titans view the upcoming private workout with Sanders and Hunter, paired with any previous exposure to them, as enough to make a decision. But owning the No. 1 overall selection comes with great responsibility and the Titans have literally been as thorough as possible when evaluating Ward. That's not equal-parts true for Sanders and Hunter, strongly indicating Ward is the hands-on favorite at No. 1 overall.
