Titans' 5 biggest remaining offseason needs after first wave of free agency

Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi is officially through the first wave of free agency. The Titans claimed they would prioritize the trenches and they've done just that, both offensively and defensively. Borgonzi has done a quality job filling holes heading into the second wave of veteran free agency.

The Titans also hold the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. April's festivities will represent another opportunity to address areas of concern. Until then, we've identified Tennessee's biggest remaining offseason needs.

Quarterback

The Titans entered free agency with a huge need at quarterback and unsurprisingly, it hasn't been addressed with a veteran solution. Journeyman quarterback Brandon Allen was signed for his familiarity with head coach Brian Callahan. Allen's arrival could signal the end of the Will Levis era in Tennessee, but he's not going to function as their starter. The Titans are mulling whether or not to further address the position by drafting Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall.

Wide Receiver

The wide receiver position lacks proven playmakers outside of Calvin Ridley. The Titans were unable to convince Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to re-sign with the team, as last year's in-house receiving touchdowns leader joined the Miami Dolphins in free agency. Borgonzi pivoted by adding veteran pass catcher Van Jefferson, who is a downgrade. The Titans desperately need to find receivers capable of contributing right away.

EDGE

Dennard Wilson's defense posted a third-worst 32 sacks last season and they're not yet equipped to guarantee improvement in that department. Sack leader Harold Landry was a cap casualty. Landry has since reunited with Mike Vrabel in New England. The Titans added Dre'Mont Jones in free agency. Jones is a quality veteran who's versatile enough to play multiple positions roles, but he has just 9.5 sacks over the past two seasons. Wilson's unit needs more pass-rushing juice off the edge.

Tight End

Chigoziem Okonkwo and Josh Whyle are quality tight ends who remain on their rookie contracts. Last year's No. 3 at the position was Nick Vannett. Vannett remains available in free agency after playing the premier in-line blocking role. The Titans will want to add a player here capable of replacing his early-down skill set.

Interior Offensive Line

Kevin Zeitler and Dan Moore Jr. are fantastic additions to the offensive line who should turn a weak unit into a much stronger one. Inside specifically, the Titans appear to have a strong starting trio of Zeitler, Lloyd Cushenberry, and Peter Skoronski. Cushenberry is recovering from a season-ending Achilles injury, which complicates his timeline. Borgonzi recently re-signed Corey Levin, and free-agent addition Blake Hance is versatile, but better depth is needed.
