Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh is displeased with the state of his cornerback depth at training camp. After signing veterans Nazeeh Johnson and Mario Goodrich, the Titans have now made a third addition at cornerback in less than a week. The team is signing Derrick Canteen in a flurry of moves.
The Titans also signed defensive tackles Khalen Saunders and Laki Tasi, per Jim Wyatt. Safety Hudson Clark, and defensive linemen David Ebuka Agoha and Cam Horsley were released to make room. Canteen is undoubtedly a Saleh-approved addition, given their shared history together.
Saleh knows Canteen from the San Francisco 49ers. Canteen will now join the Titans in time for Monday's first padded practice of camp. He'll immediately attempt to get himself in the 53-man roster mix.

Canteen played college at Georgia Southern, Virginia Tech and Cincinnati. He joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft. Canteen eventually joined the 49ers' practice squad. After signing a futures contract earlier this offseason, he was waived just days ago on July 31st, and was quickly scooped up by the Titans.
The Titans continue to look for backend cornerback depth after totally revamping the room this offseason. Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott were signed to lucrative contracts in free agency to be the new boundary starters. Sophomore Marcus Harris is being penciled for the nickel role.
Things get dicey behind the three starters, and the Titans' latest movements indicate they know that. Joshua Williams was also signed in free agency and appears to possess a strong grip on the top reserve role. Behind him, Micah Robinson and Keydrain Calligan appear to be the contenders for the CB5 spot.
The Titans signed three undrafted cornerbacks after the 2026 draft, but two of them have already been released to make room for the likes of Goodrich, Johnson, and Canteen. There's been a theme of familiarity with these latest additions. General manager Mike Borgonzi knew Johnson from Kansas City, and Saleh coached Canteen with the 49ers last season.
Canteen played 158 preseason snaps for the 49ers last year. The rookie UDFA registered 11 tackles and allowed zero touchdowns in coverage, per Pro Football Focus. Canteen will compete for a roster spot at a position the Titans are clearly dissatisfied with.
