It only took 6 OTA practices for Titans QB Will Levis to raise old concerns

The Tennessee Titans held their sixth Organized Team Activities (OTAs) practice on Friday. It was the second session open to the media. Backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky continues to be a non-participant in the voluntary phase, allowing Will Levis to get more reps.

Levis and Hendon Hooker have been competing behind starter Cam Ward. It's highly unlikely anyone can dethrone Trubisky for the No. 2 spot after the Titans signed him to a two-year, $10.5 million contract earlier this offseason. Nonetheless, Levis is attempting to rehabilitate his reputation after sitting out the 2025 season as the follow-up to his disastrous 2024.

Levis was said to be enjoying a productive phase at OTAs, but any offseason progress came to a sudden and screeching halt. Levis threw two interceptions at the practice session, one of which was of the nightmare variety. The former Kentucky standout reverted back to his old ways.

It was a busted screen intended for rookie running back Nicholas Singleton that was sniffed out by the Titans defense. Levis threw the screen pass anyway, which was intercepted by defensive tackle Solomon Thomas and returned for a pick-six touchdown, according to Jim Wyatt. It was reminiscent of Levis' lackluster 2024 campaign as the starter.

It also sounded reminiscent of a terrible interception Levis threw in 2023 against the Miami Dolphins on primetime. He telegraphed a designed screen for Tyjae Spears. It was intercepted by Zach Sieler and returned for a pick six. Levis and the Titans mounted an incredible fourth-quarter comeback to win that game.

The mistake-prone quarterback committed several meme-worthy turnovers in 2024. The inconsistent quarterback threw 12 interceptions in 12 games under Brian Callahan. Levis also lost six fumbles, bringing his total turnovers to an unacceptable 18. The Titans drafted Ward No. 1 overall that offseason and Levis hasn't played in Tennessee since.

Levis was also intercepted for a second time at practice by reserve defensive back Keydrain Calligan.

The Titans are expected to make Levis available for trade this offseason. Hopefully an opposing team sees a naturally talented quarterback worth taking a chance on. Dumbfounding interceptions like the one Levis threw at Friday's practice won't increase the Titans' chances of acquiring a draft pick for his services.
