Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks finds himself in the midst of a make-or-break training camp. Burks, who was drafted two general managers ago, has been nothing but wasted time in three seasons. Now in a fate-deciding contract year, it's legitimately now-or-never for the 2022 first-round selection.

Titans head coach Brian Callahan heaped praise on Burks' work ethic and approach earlier this week. Saturday's practice at Nissan Stadium, the third session of training camp, offered Burks an opportunity to earn goodwill in front of an excited fanbase while building chemistry with rookie quarterback Cam Ward. Ward was excellent during Saturday's practice, displaying a rapport with his other pass catchers.

Instead, it went in the opposite direction.

In classic Burks fashion, a near-highlight reel play ended in disappointment. Burks appeared to have made a great diving catch up the right sideline, but landed out of bounds for an incompletion, per Paul Kuharsky. He then got up holding his shoulder and went inside to be attended by the medical team.

It's since been reported by Ian Rapoport that Burks suffered a fractured collarbone on the play.

Treylon Burks career with Titans likely over after brutal injury setback

A fractured collarbone is potentially serious enough to keep Burks sidelined for multiple months. If the Titans place the former Arkansas standout on IR now, his season is officially over. Either way, Burks will likely be placed on an injury list (PUP?) that prevents the Titans from having to make an immediate decision regarding his status when naming their initial 53-man roster.

Burks is in a contract year after the Titans have already declined his fifth-year option earlier this offseason. The oft-injured, disappointing wideout wasn't likely to make the 53-man roster, but this brutal injury setback essentially seals his fate. Burks has likely made his final appearance for the Titans.
