The 2026 NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday in Pittsburgh, and the Tennessee Titans are slated to pick in the top five. We all know that the Las Vegas Raiders are going to pick Fernando Mendoza to kick off the draft, and then the New York Jets are either going with Arvell Reese or David Bailey.
Once the Arizona Cardinals are on the clock at No. 3, that’s where the fun begins and the Titans could join the fun, too. After going heavy on defense in free agency, Tennessee needs to add more offensive help to give Cam Ward a shot to take a step forward in his sophomore season.
Running back Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame has been constantly mocked to the Titans at No. 4 which would make a ton of sense. However, when it comes to the draft, anything is possible and in Conor Orr’s latest mock draft on Sports Illustrated, that anything comes to life.
Titans do the unthinkable in NFL mock draft (but fans shouldn't be scared)
In Orr’s mock draft, the Titans make a deal where they trade the 4th and 101st picks to the Los Angeles Rams. In exchange for those picks, the Titans receive selections Nos. 13, 61, 93, and a 2027 1st-round pick.
"While there isn’t necessarily a game-changing receiver that fits into the Rams’ universe, Love, in what could be Stafford’s final season, may conquer all. The Titans may like the idea of having a 2027 chip to play with if the new coaching staff decides Cam Ward isn’t the long-term answer." said Orr.
For a top-five pick in the draft, that is the kind of haul the Titans should be looking for. You get two additional picks in the first three rounds, stay in the Top 15, and then acquire a future first rounder in what appears to be a loaded 2027 draft. That would a stellar outcome for the Titans.
Passing on a prospect like Love, who is the best overall player in the draft, would be tough to accept. At the same time, Mike Borgonzi would be acquiring more capital to build up the team this year and next around Ward.
If Ward does take another step forward, then the Titans will be able to get two top prospects to fill out the roster even more. While making this kind of trade has some risk to it, the payoff is big and the Titans would have to be really committed to a certain prospect to turn down an offer like this.
