The Tennessee Titans will finally make their decision with the No. 4 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft this Thursday. Speculation has run rampant for months. The only guaranteed selection in this unpredictable draft is that the Las Vegas Raiders will take quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first pick.
The Titans will be somewhat at the mercy of the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals. What the Jets and Cardinals do with Nos. 2 and 3 overall will have a profound impact on the Titans. Rumors and smokescreens continue to run rampant.
If the Titans stay at No. 4, they'll likely be choosing between running back Jeremiyah Love, EDGE rushers Arvell Reese and David Bailey, and linebacker Sonny Styles. Whoever the Titans pick may offer fans insight into who drove the decision.
NFL Draft will reveal Tennessee Titans' power balance
General manager Mike Borgonzi possesses full roster control. He hired his first head coach this past offseason, appointing Robert Saleh to succeed Brian Callahan. Borgonzi then spent free agency acquiring a slew of players Saleh and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll previously coached in New York.
If Borgonzi drafts Love, it'd be fair to assume all parties involved approve that decision. Borgonzi isn't drafting a running back unless he legitimately doesn't believe in the devalued position debate. Surely, Daboll would be thrilled to acquire another dynamic weapon for his offense, and Saleh should be excited about how Love can help Cam Ward and his defense.
If the Titans draft a falling pass rusher like Bailey or Reese, surely Saleh and Borgonzi would be thrilled. As the GM, Borgonzi would be acquiring a premium position prospect at No. 4 overall. As the defensive-minded head coach, Saleh would be getting another pass rusher for his new-look defense.
Where things could get particularly interesting is if the Titans draft Styles. There's no telling who'd drive that decision, but fans may safely assume Saleh, a former linebackers coach whose developed elite players at the position like Fred Warner, probably stood on the table for that pick. Borgonzi has shown a clear willingness to take Saleh's thoughts on player acquisition into account this offseason.
Borgonzi controls the Titans' roster. Saleh's and Daboll's preferences have clearly carried significant influence this offseason. Thursday's NFL Draft decision will further reveal how Borgonzi plans to best support his coaching staff.
