It’s been a rough start for the Tennessee Titans to start out the season. A big reason why is because of the way the offense under Brian Daboll has operated. Now granted, it’s only been two games and there’s still plenty of football left. At the same time, there is a sample to go off of that should be concerning for Titans fans.
Now, you could make a case about how the defense is playing a role in the Titans' early struggles, but the offense hasn't clicked. Cam Ward currently ranks 28th in the league in passing yards, and he has just one touchdown through the air. To his credit, Ward hasn't gotten enough support from the defense or his rushing attack.
There are many things that could be brought up as to why the offense looks as bad as they do. However, one of the Titans' biggest offseason additions has been a big time disappointment up to this point in wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson.
Titans WR Wan'Dale Robinson's hasn't made the desired impact
After signing a four-year, $70 million deal with the Titans and reuniting with Daboll from their time together with the Giants, Robinson has had a rough start to his Titans tenure. He has just six catches for 47 yards and has yet to find the endzone. He has just six more yards through the air than running back Tyjae Spears and he is behind Carnell Tate and Ayomanor.
This isn't the start that Titans fans had been hoping for from Robinson, especially since he came from Daboll's offense in New York. With the big contract that he received this past offseason, it's jumped out as one of the biggest regrettable contracts through Week 2 by Alex Kay of Bleacher Report.
"Robinson was supposed to be a safety valve for up-and-coming quarterback Cam Ward, but the pair can't seem to get on the same page. The battery has only hooked up six times on the season, generating a meager 47 yards and zero touchdowns in a pair of defeats." said Kay.
"These are unacceptable marks for a wideout who is being paid handsomely to move the chains and rack up a high volume of catches in Tennessee's offensive system. If Robinson can't get on the same page as Ward, his contract will be one the Titans quickly come to regret." Kay added.
Pressure just became more pressing for Titans WR Wan'Dale Robinson
It's only been two games in the first year of Robinson's contract. At the same time, when a team gives a player the kind of money that Robinson got, good results are expected. Right now, the former Kentucky standout hasn't shown fans that he was worth the money that he got in free agency.
Luckily for Robinson, the Titans will be on the road this week as they will head up to New York to battle the Giants, who he and Daboll came from last season. There's no better way than to make a statement against your old team on their turf.
