The Tennessee Titans stood pat earlier this week and watched a flurry of activity around the NFL. First, the Cleveland Browns traded superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. Then, former Titans receiver A.J. Brown was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots, reuniting with Mike Vrabel.
The rebuilding Titans aren't in a position to make the aggressive trades the Rams and Patriots made to acquire Garrett and Brown. They are building around franchise quarterback Cam Ward. If Ward takes a developmental step this coming campaign, perhaps we'll see Mike Borgonzi act with more aggression next offseason.
Nonetheless, the Titans were impacted by Monday's blockbuster trades. They were previously slated to play against both Garrett and Brown in 2026. Now, two opposing superstar players have been removed from their upcoming schedule altogether.
Titans will no longer play against A.J. Brown, Myles Garrett in 2026 following blockbuster trades
The Titans play against the Eagles in Week 2. They'll welcome removing Brown from their schedule after the ex-Titans wideout absolutely torched them in 2022 for eight receptions, 110 yards, and two touchdowns. Vrabel was hellbent on acquiring Brown after being vehemently opposed to trading the star wideout out of Tennessee during his coaching tenure in Nashville.
The Titans face the Browns in Week 7. Garrett, who was actually neutralized by the Titans during their 2025 matchup, won't be present for that midseason showdown. Instead, the rebuilding Browns appear committed to losing and targeting a quarterback via the 2027 NFL Draft.
The Titans played both the Patriots and Rams during the 2025 campaign. They were defeated 33-19 by the Rams in Week 2 and 13-13 by the Patriots in Week 6, the latter of which was a homecoming for Vrabel. Thankfully, the Titans avoided the Garrett and Brown versions of those teams.
Analyzing the 2026 schedule is all about identifying hidden advantages. Removing star talents like Brown and Garrett qualifies as a victory for the Titans. Robert Saleh will be thrilled to avoid as many superstar players as possible.
