The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan earlier this week. Mike McCoy was named as interim and will make his debut in that role against Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots in Week 7. Meanwhile the Titans will slowly start putting together a list of potential replacements so they are prepared to conduct a proper search once the offseason arrives.
The list of potential candidates should possess some obvious names. Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and two-time head coach Mike McCarthy are among the replacements who should garner consideration. One potential candidate is currently employed and could fall right into the Titans' laps this offseason.
The Cleveland Browns are currently 1-5. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is under immense pressure and could be fired this offseason. If Stefanski becomes available, the Titans need to seriously consider appointing him.
Titans need to consider hiring Kevin Stefanski as Brian Callahan's replacement if he becomes available
Stefanski compiled an 11-5 record in his debut campaign with the Browns in 2020, ending the franchise's near 20-year postseason drought. He won another 11 contests en route to Coach of the Year honors in 2023. The Browns' downfall has been a result of decisions (Deshaun Watson?) Stefanski inherited from lackluster ownership and management.
Stefanski possesses a brilliant offensive mind. Prior to coming to Cleveland, he was a high-level assistant in Minnesota who worked with a plethora of quality coaches. Stefanski's offense would be a great fit for Cam Ward, as the Titans must prioritize the development of their young quarterback with this next hire.
There's an excellent possibility the Browns are headed for a full organizational reset this offseason. If they're foolish enough to dismiss Stefanski, Mike Borgonzi and Chad Brinker need to be attentive. Stefanski would be one of the wiser hires the Titans could potentially make.
