When the Tennessee Titans drafted Carnell Tate with the fourth pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, they expected him to be an impact player who could help pull this passing offense into relevance. So far in OTAs, he looks like the perfect man for that job, but he isn't the only offensive player thriving.
Despite Titans media having limited access to OTAs, the clips and comments about Tate have been glowingly positive. The team is posting videos of highlight reel catches, while people who doubted the pick are already doing a public about-face.
Lost in the buzz and the hype of Tate's start to his NFL career is that other names are doing impressive things. As of the latest reporting, the two other players who are making a splash are Wan'Dale Robinson and Tyjae Spears.
New-look Tennessee Titans offense is dominating OTAs early
Robinson has had some nice days, including a recent practice where he posted a team-high six receptions. That is important because Robinson is the perfect receiver for this offense because he can make plays down the field, but he thrives in the intermediate area, moving the chains.
With Chig Okonkwo gone, there is a void for a player like that in the middle of the field, and Robinson could be a better version of what the Titans' offense was missing there.
Tate has been a major factor, and his ability to get open while also being able to make tough catches is almost certainly going to lead to him being someone Cam Ward targets often. Calvin Ridley isn't practicing fully yet as he recovers from the injury that ended his season last year, but soon he will rejoin this group, and he will be another weapon that can take the top off of a defense.
That should pull defenses back and away from the line of scrimmage, and that impact seems to already be happening in practice. Having space in the run game and the depth of the defense opening up the flat seems to have had a positive impact on Spears. This is what Jim Wyatt had to say about Spears:
"I kept writing the No.2 down on my notepad on Friday as well, with an exclamation point beside a few plays. Titans running back Tyjae Spears looks explosive. He caught four passes himself, and he turned some short passes into big gains. Spears also busted through holes and into bigger spaces with some nice runs, juking defenders along the way. It started with the very first play of practice. Let's just say Tyjae had a day."
If he can stay healthy, Spears can be a fun, dynamic player in this offense. In fact, even if he can't stay healthy, he should be a fun weapon in this offense whenever he is able to make it onto the field.
Even though a lot of this work is against backup defenders, the fact that these players are winning because of how their skill sets help their teammates is the biggest takeaway and this is exactly what you want from the offense now so that they have chemistry and swagger when they finally get to see Robert Saleh, Jeffery Simmons, and the rest of the Titans defensive players on the field in training camp.
