The Tennessee Titans' offensive coordinator saga has officially reached its conclusion. After earlier reports confirmed Brian Daboll was set to accept the Titans' OC job, Robert Saleh officially got his man. Daboll is Tennessee's new offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.
The Titans remained patient throughout the process. Daboll was a candidate for the Buffalo Bills' and Las Vegas Raiders' head coaching jobs. Once the Bills hired Joe Brady, Daboll gave his commitment to Saleh and the Titans.
Daboll arrives in the most notable assistant role. With Saleh being a defensive-minded head coach, Daboll will essentially have full oversight of the offense. It's terrific news for franchise quarterback Cam Ward, who should now take a sizable step forward as a sophomore.
Titans OC Brian Daboll can develop Cam Ward into a QB the NFL fears
Daboll was apparently infatuated with Ward throughout the pre-draft process. His New York Giants, slated to pick third overall, tried tempting the Titans into a trade. The Titans refused to entertain them, stayed put and took Ward with the top pick.
Daboll's Giants pivoted, drafted pass rusher Abdul Carter in the top five and traded back into the first round to take quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart performed admirably after entering the starting lineup, but the Giants stayed losing. Daboll was dismissed after 10 contests and in an intriguing twist of fate, will get to coach his preferred quarterback in Ward in 2026.
Daboll has a history of working with young quarterbacks. He's credited for helping develop Josh Allen from a raw quarterback to an elite MVP during his tenure as the Bills' offensive coordinator. Daboll also coached Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts at Alabama in 2017.
Daboll will now help Saleh fill out the offensive coaching staff in Tennessee. Prior to his arrival, Saleh agreed to retain Luke Stocker and Randy Jordan as tight end and running backs coach respectively, per Paul Kuharsky. Position coaches for the quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive line remain vacant as of Daboll's appointment.
Daboll's expertise with ascending quarterbacks should help Ward become the elite-level player he's capable of becoming.
