The Tennessee Titans officially began conducting their head coaching search on Monday. Requests flew in fast and furious, with candidates ranging from Kansas City Chiefs coordinators Matt Nagy and Steve Spagnuolo to Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The majority of interviews are expected to happen virtually.

There are two reported exceptions. The Titans are expected to interview two specific candidates in person this weekend. That is allowed because both candidates happened to be fired by their respective organizations.

The Titans will interview former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, and former Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, in Nashville this weekend, according to Paul Kuharsky. Stefanski is an intriguing option due to his proven resume. Morris qualifies as a surprise candidate.

Titans to interview Kevin Stefanski, Raheem Morris in person this week

Stefanski was fired on Monday after six seasons with the Browns. He led the Cleveland-based organization to two postseason appearances, winning Coach of the Year honors both times. Stefanski also oversaw the Browns' first playoff victory in 26 years. This past campaign, he was under routine criticism for his handling of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Hiring Stefanski would possibly prioritize the development of franchise quarterback Cam Ward. Ward is dealing with a shoulder injury that will sideline him for the first couple of offseason months. Having a coach like Stefanski oversee the offense would arguably set him up for sophomore success.

Morris lasted just two campaigns in Atlanta. The defensive-minded leader oversaw consecutive 8-9 seasons. The Falcons concluded 2025 on a four-game winning streak, but it wasn't enough to convince owner Arthur Blank to continue moving forward with him.

Morris was previously the Falcons' interim coach in 2020, and also enjoyed a three-year stint as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach. His overall record is a lackluster 37-56. Morris is among the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, but it would be shocking if he received a third opportunity to lead a franchise.

The Titans are permitted from conducting in-person interviews with coaching candidates currently employed by rival teams until January 19. Morris and Stefanski are exceptions after being fired. General manager Mike Borgonzi is getting a head start.
