The 2025 season ended on Sunday for the Tennessee Titans, and the team is already at work on the future. After firing Brian Callahan early in the season, Tennessee has hit the ground running on its coaching search. With Cam Ward and a ton of cap space, the Titans could be a promising destination for coaching candidates.

While the franchise is only one, official, day into its search, a few candidates have already been identified. One of the most recent names added to Tennessee’s search is Raheem Morris. NFL reporter Peter Schrager announced that the Titans will interview Morris for their vacancy, and considering that he was just fired by the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, his name hasn’t excited fans.

Titans plan to interview Raheem Morris for vacant head coach job

Morris is a two-time head coach, and he also held an interim role for 11 games. His most recent opportunity came with the Atlanta Falcons the last two seasons, where he was an average 16-18. Morris was able to lead the Falcons to four-straight wins to end the season, but that still wasn’t enough to save his job, as Atlanta decided to clean house.

Now, the head coach is back in the pool of coaching candidates, and Tennessee is showing interest. While his time with the Falcons wasn’t a disaster, he’s also not a candidate that will get fans excited about the future. Titans fans want the organization to shoot for the stars with this hire, and Morris isn’t considered a star.

In six total years as a head coach, three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009 to 2011, 11 games as the interim head coach of the Falcons in 2020, and the last two seasons in Atlanta, Morris is 37-56. Additionally, he’s a defensive-minded coach, and because of the presence of Cam Ward, it’s fair to say most fans would prefer an offensive guy that can partner with the young quarterback for years to come.

Ultimately, Morris having an interview with Tennessee just means he’s a candidate for the job, not that he will be the next head coach. It’s extremely early in the process, so fans will have to wait and see how everything plays out.
