Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan and general manager Mike Borgonzi drew a large crowd of media members when speaking at the podium at the 2025 NFL Combine. As the team that owns the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans' front-office regime was unsurprisingly bombarded with questions about quarterback prospects Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
The Titans are entering the offseason clearly needing to acquire a quarterback after Will Levis flamed out during the 2024 campaign. Ward and Sanders are conceivably the only two QB prospects even worth considering at No. 1 overall. If the Titans fall in love with one of them, nobody can prevent Tennessee from drafting their preferred signal caller.
One of the alternative outcomes sees the Titans trade the No. 1 pick to a QB-needy franchise in exchange for more draft capital. Scouts and analysts are split on Ward and Sanders as prospects, with many seeing them as being unworthy of the top selection. Borgonzi and Callahan are attempting to revamp a weak roster littered with holes throughout. Acquiring additional picks would allow Tennessee to attack multiple needs in one offseason, without forcing a decision at QB.
When speaking with the media at the NFL Combine, Borgonzi seemed to indicate that would be Tennessee's preferred outcome.
“We’re always going to try to gather as many picks in the Top 100 as we can," Borgonzi said.

Titans GM indicates they'd prefer to trade down from No. 1 overall in 2025 NFL Draft
Borgonzi and president of football operations Chad Brinker previously stated that they prefer to own 12 top 100 selections in the next three drafts. They're currently equipped with less than 10. Borgonzi essentially doubled down on that statement during his media availability at the NFL Combine. The only way for the Titans to realistically achieve that goal is to trade down from No. 1 overall.
Borgonzi also confirmed the Titans have had initial discussions with teams about a potential trade down. Analysis indicates interesting parties could include the New York Giants (No. 3 overall), Las Vegas Raiders (No. 6), and New York Jets (No. 7). Any of those teams could offer the Titans an intriguing package of picks, while ensuring Tennessee still has an opportunity to draft a great, but maybe not blue-chip, prospect inside the top 10.
The NFL Combine will help the Titans determine their preferred outcome. Borgonzi remains intrigued by the possibility of trading down from No. 1 overall and acquiring both immediate and future draft capital.
