Will the Tennessee Titans select a quarterback at No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft? That's the question dominating headlines for the franchise this offseason. New general manager Mike Borgonzi is tasked with replacing disappointing performer Will Levis.
The 33rd Team recently released a brand-new two-round mock draft. Kyle Crabbs has the Titans selecting University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the top overall pick.
That would appease Ward, who recently sent a crystal clear message to the Titans, stating they'd be making a mistake by passing on him.
"The Titans' decision at quarterback comes with the luxury of knowing they're going to have their pick of the litter in this year's class," Crabbs wrote. "For every other quarterback-hungry team in the league, none will be assured of the certainty that comes with the No. 1 overall pick. "As such, it isn't hard for imagination to conclude that the new brain trust in Tennessee buys into the raw physical upside that exists with Cam Ward versus the rest of the class."
Ward's physical upside was on display throughout his illustrious 2024 season. The Hurricanes standout is an off-script magician and playmaker. Ward threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while leading the program to its first double-digit win season in over five years. He added four rushing scores to his overall offensive totals.
Head coach Brian Callahan is searching for a quarterback to operate his system in a critical 2025 season. Callahan was brought to Tennessee to modernize the offense and install a successful passing attack. Terrible quarterback play prevented that from happening, and the entire coaching staff now finds itself on the hot seat entering their second season.
At No. 35 overall, Tennessee's lone remaining top-100 pick, Crabbs selected Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss.
"Umanmielen played on a fierce line at Ole Miss and would project as an awesome last piece to pair with Harold Landry and the heavyweight interior duo of Jeffery Simmons and T'Vondre Sweat," Crabbs noted.
The Titans are entering the offseason with a massive need at edge. Dennard Wilson's defense recorded a third-worst 32.0 sacks this past season. No Titans defender recorded 10-plus sacks in 2024, and starting edges Harold Landry III and Arden Key are both considered potential salary cap casualties this offseason.
Umanmielen is an athletic pass rusher. The Ole Miss performer totaled a career-high 10.5 sacks this past campaign. Umanmielen pairs first-step explosiveness with instincts.
