Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks was entering a make-or-break training camp period after consistently failing to meet expectations. Through three completed seasons, Burks had totaled just 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown. The 2022 first-round pick, who was essentially acquired in exchange for AJ Brown, spent more time injured and dropping passes than he did being productive.
Burks was not projected to make the team's 53-man roster this season. Despite recovering from last season's ACL injury in impressive fashion, he entered camp fighting to extend his career in Tennessee. Head coach Brian Callahan recently praised Burks' work ethic and approach, but admitted he needed to be more productive.
Well right on cue, Burks suffered a serious collarbone injury during Saturday's "Back Together" training camp practice at Nissan Stadium. In a play that was quintessential Burks, he attempted to make a leaping grab near the sidelines. Not only did he fail to complete the catch in bounds, but he also severely injured his collarbone in the process.
On Monday, the Titans admitted defeat on Burks by waiving him, according to multiple national reports. General manager Mike Borgonzi must have reached an injury settlement with his representation, because that's the only way to release an injured player. The Burks era in Nashville is finally over.

Burks was fighting for a roster spot before fractured his collarbone in practice this weekend marking an unlucky end to his Tennessee tenure for a player who hasn’t lived up to his lofty draft status.
Burks was drafted two regimes ago by disastrous then-GM Jon Robinson. Borgonzi had no reason to show continued patience with Burks' development. Sure, the Titans could have stashed him on IR and decided his fate at a later date. That only would have extended a fruitless conversation.
It was time to move on.
And so the Titans will, with a revamped wideout room that includes draft picks Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike. Veteran free agent additions Van Jefferson and Tyler Lockett were also above Burks in the pecking order, and 1,000-yard receiver Calvin Ridley spearheads the entire unit.
The draft-night trade involving Brown and Burks is arguably the worst in franchise history. At least this new era of the Titans can put that gaffe behind them.
