The Tennessee Titans are in a great spot to add a high-upside player at a premium position with the 35th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
It is no secret that when you look at the Titans' depth chart at EDGE and wide receiver that the team only has one above-average starter (Calvin Ridley) at either spot. Even if you aren't expecting the Titans to make the playoffs this year, the team simply can't enter the season as currently constructed at those positions.
Having the 35th selection (the third choice in the second round) means the Titans can narrow their scope to three players, so they are guaranteed to have a shot at least one of these talents.
-Luther Burden WR, Missouri
-Mike Green EDGE, Marshall
-Donovan Ezeiruaku EDGE, Boston College
If the Titans want to swing for the fences, they should take a chance on one of those three with their selection. All three players were considered first-round options heading into the draft; they all flash high-end upside on film, and obviously, they all fit a position of need.
However, if the Titans aren't in love with any of those players, or are bothered by Green and/or Burden's alleged off-field issues, then there is also the chance that they could attempt to trade down to recoup the third-round pick they don't currently have.
Considering how much talent at other positions fell to the second round (including at quarterback), the Titans might be able to get pretty good value for 35.
We conducted various mock-draft scenarios that explore all options.
Option 1: Stick and pick
Round 2, pick 35: Mike Green EDGE, Marshall
Burden makes a ton of sense if the Titans are comfortable with him, but there is no information from anyone close to the Titans that suggests that he will be the pick there. However, it is a nice consolation prize for Titans fans that they end up with an EDGE that Dane Brugler had as a top-10 player in this class and that James Foster had in his top-15. Landing two top-10ish players in a draft where you only have two picks inside the top 100 would certainly represent good bang for your buck.
Option 2: Trade down
Round 2, pick 44: Kyle Williams WR, Washington State
Round 3, pick 76: Omarr Norman-Lott DT, Tennessee
The Titans miss out on a top EDGE, but this is a deep class at the position, and they could maneuver up for another pass rusher if they wanted to. However, let's look at the moves they made in this mock trade-down with the Dallas Cowboys.
No. 1 overall quarterback Cam Ward is reunited with Kyle Williams in this scenario, and the Titans acquire an extra top 100 pick in the process. Williams is a natural fit at "X" receiver opposite Ridley, and with Tyler Lockett in the slot, which rounds out the wide receiver group nicely. They will almost certainly add another WR on Day 3, but this gives them a real starting trio that is passable on paper.
Speaking of rounding out position groups, Omarr Norman-Lott is a perfect fit for the Titans defense, and they have spent some time with the defensive tackle throughout the process. His effort and intensity make him an ideal candidate to rotate with Jeffery Simmons to help both stay fresh to improve the pressure on passing downs.
