The Tennessee Titans introduced their revamped power structure earlier this week when new general manager Mike Borgonzi met the media. President of football operations Chad Brinker also made various appearances as the team's new de-facto decision maker. Together, Borgonzi and Brinker are tasked with laying out a clear offseason plan. The most important part of putting the rebuild in motion includes what to do with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

In the midst of discussing all of the potential outcomes with that pick, Brinker publicly proclaimed the Titans wouldn't pass on a "generational talent." Of course, the definition is open to interpretation. Many took that to mean Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, but not all were in agreement.

NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently released his first 2025 NFL Mock Draft. Jeremiah has the Titans drafting Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter, claiming Carter may be the prospect the Titans were referring to.

"My ears perked up when Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said the team wouldn’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick," Jeremiah wrote. "To me, Carter is the best player in the draft and he plays a premium position. I could see Tennessee looking to add competition for QB Will Levis in the free-agent market or later on in the draft."

Carter is certainly a player who has positioned himself as Tennessee's potential No. 1 overall selection. The Titans essentially possess five outcomes at the top. They could draft Carter or Hunter, trade down, or select a quarterback, Cam Ward, or Shedeur Sanders.

Carter plays EDGE, a premium position, and a massive offseason need for the Titans. The versatile front-seven defender recorded a career-high 12 sacks and FBS-high 24 tackles for loss at Penn State this season. Carter pairs instincts with rare athleticism as an elite prospect.

Borgonzi and Brinker have decisions to make at EDGE this offseason. Starting outside linebackers Harold Landry III and Arden Key both qualify as potential salary cap casualties. Collectively, the Titans recorded a third-worst 28.0 sacks throughout the regular season. Drafting Carter would provide Dennard Wilson's unit with a big-time boost.

Only Brinker and Borgonzi know if any prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft fits their definition of a "generational prospect." Carter would certainly be a quality addition as an elite talent at a premium position of need.
