The Tennessee Titans are attempting to compete in the AFC South again after enduring consecutive 3-14 seasons. General manager Mike Borgonzi has spent the offseason rebuilding the roster around Cam Ward. If done successfully, the Titans should be a tougher out in the division.

The 2025 Titans came nowhere near competing with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars. They went an NFL-worst 3-14, earning the No. 4 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft due to tiebreakers. Meanwhile, the Jaguars won the AFC South at 13-4, and the Texans weren't far behind at 12-5.

Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr recently made 100 bold predictions for the 2026 NFL season. Orr has the Texans defeating the Seattle Seahawks 23-21 in Super Bowl LXI. That would be a full-blown nightmare for the Titans, whose AFC South rivalry with Houston feels personal due to the Oilers history.

Titans are still way behind the Texans in latest Sports Illustrated prediction

"The Texans and the Seahawks both have among the league’s best net rest differentials, and Houston has one of the 10 easiest schedules in terms of opponent win percentage," Orr wrote. "I got turned on to Houston’s true successes from 2025 after realizing that the Texans and Rams were the only two teams with one of the five hardest schedules that managed to reach the postseason. This was despite an offense that is still in the developmental phase."

It's true the Texans managed an impressive 12-5 victory despite navigating a difficult schedule. They concluded the regular season on a nine-game winning streak, and swept the season series over the Titans. The Texans then blew out the Steelers in the postseason, eventually losing to the Patriots in the divisional round.

We know the Texans possess an elite defense under DeMeco Ryans. What's truly scary is CJ Stroud and the offense hit their stride late. Houstion's offense scored 36-plus points in three of their final nine victories.

Stroud will now be in his second season under offensive coordinator Nick Caley. A sense of comfort should arrive with that familiarity. The Texans also traded for running back David Montgomery, adding additional firepower for Stroud.

The Titans are playing catch-up with the Texans in the AFC South. A Texans Super Bowl would be a true nightmare for Titans fans. Tennessee needs to continue rebuilding their road to redemption to help prevent the unthinkable from happening.
