On the surface level, people tend to think Cam Ward had a bad rookie season with the Tennessee Titans in 2025. There were growing pains throughout, but there were many variables that played a factor. Ward didn’t have a great supporting cast around him on the outside and the protection was lackluster.

Being sacked 55 times makes it hard to do anything special on a consistent basis. Yet, Ward still showed off some great moments that should have Titans fans excited for what is to come. There were times when Ward was making plays that he had no business making simply because of everything around him not working. Now, he has an advantage going into his second season.

With all of the new additions the Titans made this offseason on both sides of the ball, the front office has put Ward in a spot where he is more likely to succeed than fail, and Alex Kay of Bleacher Report believes that as well.

Cam Ward ready to take next step forward in 2026

Kay predicted slumps or stardom for various sophomore players and Ward is being projected to fall in the stardom category which should have Titans fans smiling big time.

"The Tennessee offense should be far more creative in 2026 thanks to the arrival of OC Brian Daboll, a renowned quarterback whisperer who helped develop Josh Allen into a bona fide superstar during his time with the Buffalo Bills. A lack of playmakers to throw to won't be a problem this year, either, as the Titans utilized the No. 4 overall pick to make a game-changing addition in Carnell Tate." said Kay.

Getting Brian Daboll as a play caller should have Ward shining big considering that his work with Josh Allen made him into the superstar quarterback that he is today. In addition, the Titans getting Ward immediate help at wide receiver with Wan’Dale Robinson but also giving him a future No. 1 receiver in Carnell Tate.

The offensive line is still a question mark but the Titans did make some additions during the NFL Draft. As far as the weapons and play caller, you couldn’t have asked for a better set up for Ward heading into 2026.

Not to mention, the Titans loaded up on defense through free agency. With Robert Saleh calling the plays, that unit will be looking to keep pressure off of Ward so that he doesn’t have to constantly play from behind.
