The Tennessee Titans began the legal tampering period by making several splashes in free agency. One of the more notable additions was that of cornerback Alontae Taylor. The Titans signed Taylor to a three-year contract worth $60 million.

The Titans entered free agency with major holes at cornerback. It was essentially a blank slate for new head coach Robert Saleh. Taylor will address one of the Titans' defensive backfield needs, either at cornerback or nickel.

Saints expert Darrion Gray is familiar with Taylor from his time in New Orleans. Gray tells Titan Sized that Taylor will be an extremely versatile piece for the Titans. That's outstanding news for a fanbase that is excited to see the former Tennessee Volunteer return home.

Saints expert: New Titans CB Alontae Taylor will fill a major need

"Alontae Taylor was the pivotal free agent for the New Orleans Saints," Gray said. "Of the Saints' free agents, Taylor possesses the mix of youth and importance to the defense. He was also the most likely to walk out the door. Taylor has experience at outside corner and in the slot that should make him a versatile piece for the Titans. The most interesting part of his profile is whether or not the Titans play him inside or outside. It’ll ultimately dictate his value."

The Titans also signed cornerback Cordale Flott in free agency. As constructed, it appears the Titans will play Flott and Taylor as boundary corners. Sophomore nickel Marcus Harris is the current favorite to defend the slot. Everything could change with another notable signing or draft pick.

Titans fans should be legitimately excited about Taylor's addition. Acquiring an ascending cornerback with desirable inside-outside versatility should help transform a lackluster cornerback room. Taylor will be a big-time piece for Saleh's unit, whether outside or in the slot.
