Nightmare streak that had Titans fans in a bind finally came to a screeching halt

Scoring less TDs than their opponent became too common.

A 1-9 record and the inside track to back-to-back No. 1 overall picks is what the Tennessee Titans face after being swept by the Houston Texans. However, despite this season's disappointment, the team has fought to remain competitive, including their 16-13 loss to Houston.

Trailing 13-6 with 4:57 remaining in the game, Cam Ward drove the offense down the field on a 95-yard touchdown drive to tie the game with 1:35 remaining. Ultimately, the Texans got in field goal range to win the game in walk-off fashion. While the struggles of the Titans' offense continued in a low-scoring affair, they broke a streak that had come to define their last two seasons of offensive ineptitude.

The development of Ward and the other Titans' young players is at the top of the priority list for the rest of this season, regardless of the result. Their last scoring drive gave a glimpse into the potential Ward can provide in the future, while also breaking their streak of scoring fewer touchdowns than their opponent.

Titans finally end pathetic streak by matching their opponents TD total

The random stat was brought to the fanbase's attention during the Titans' 27-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on November 2nd. Following their loss to the Chargers, that streak extended to 15 consecutive games, with their last game of at least tying the same amount of touchdowns as their opponent coming against...the Texans in week 12 last season.

To take it further, the last time the Titans finished a game with more touchdowns than their opponent was in Week 4 last season against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. Their streak of finishing with fewer touchdowns than their opponent was so rare that two of the three teams with longer streaks don't exist anymore.

Well, the Titans don't have to worry about catching the Dayton Triangles (1927-29), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1976-77), or Chicago Cardinals (1942-45) for the top three on the list. Let's hope they don't begin a new streak that gets that close again.
