The Tennessee Titans admitted defeat on former 2022 NFL Draft bust Treylon Burks earlier this season. The oft-injured Burks was waived with an injury designation back in July after suffering a fractured collarbone during a training camp practice, but he ultimately reverted to the team's Injured Reserve list after going unclaimed on waivers. The Titans then released him from IR in early October, making him a free agent.
Roughly one week after officially being cut by the Titans, Burks signed with the Washington Commanders' practice squad. The Commanders have dealt with a number of injuries on offense, including notable setbacks for quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Burks arrived with the belief that he'd get an opportunity to play and revive his career.
Burks made his Commanders debut in a Week 9 blowout defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, catching one pass for 14 yards. The following week against the Detroit Lions, Burks looked capable of rewriting the "bust" narrative when he recorded an explosive three receptions for a team-high 58 yards. Unfortunately, another injury has immediately threatened to wipe out any progress he recently made.

The 2022 first-rounder exited that contest with a finger injury. It has since been revealed to be severe enough for Burks to undergo surgery. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has already ruled Burks out of Sunday's Week 11 contest in Madrid, Spain with the Miami Dolphins.
The Commanders have not placed Burks, who registered just 53 receptions for 699 yards and a touchdown throughout his time with the Titans, on IR. That strongly indicates the former Arkansas standout could return to their lineup following the team's Week 12 bye. Burks impressed in brief showings, but he's running out of chances. The former Titans bust must stay healthy while capitalizing on his next opportunity.
