They come off a season in which they were tied for the worst record in the NFL, and ended 2024 on a six-game losing streak. Head coach Brain Callahan’s Tennessee Titans finished 27th in the league in scoring, and only the Carolina Panthers (534) and Dallas Cowboys (468) gave up more points than Callahan’s club (460) this past season.

Obviously, this team has been on a downward spiral for roughly two and a half years. The Titans have gone from 7-10 to 6-11 to 3-14, respectively, dating back to 2022.

Tough times in Nashville

It’s hard to blame a handful of people when things get this bad for a football team. In April, new general manager Mike Borgonzi used the first overall pick on University of Miami signal-caller Cam Ward. He hopes to bring stability and some electrifying play-making ability to a position that has been problem-plagued for far too long.

Taking care of the football has been a major problem for the Titans as of late, especially when it comes to the quarterback position.

Here is a look at the last three seasons for the team. During their 7-3 start in 2022, offense and special teams turned over the football 11 times, eight of those miscues by Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis. In losing their final seven games, there were a dozen turnovers—nine of those by Tannehill, Willis, and Josh Dobbs.

Mike Vrabel’s Titans won only six games in 2023. They turned over the ball 20 times in 17 games, but 16 of those gaffes came via Tannehill, Willis, and strong-armed Will Levis. The latter and Mason Rudolph were Callahan’s quarterbacks this past season, and it was a total disaster. Tennessee committed 34 turnovers, tied for the most in the league with the Cleveland Browns, and Levis (18) and Rudolph (10) combined for 28 of those blunders.

Here is some quick math. The Titans are a disappointing 9-32 dating back to Week 12 of 2022, and have committed a stunning 66 turnovers in those 41 contests. That’s a pretty sobering number, and one that can’t be ignored if the team is to make any progress in Callahan’s second season at the helm.
