Tennessee Titans fans are understandably excited about the potential that fourth overall pick Carnell Tate has. The Titans selected the former Ohio State wide receiver with a top-five selection to help Cam Ward grow into a franchise quarterback. The early returns have indicated Tate was extremely impressive during OTAs and minicamp.

New Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is tasked with implementing Tate into his offense. Daboll has a rich history of acquiring premium receivers and making them the focal point of his offense. See examples with Stefon Diggs and Malik Nabers.

Daboll's history adds another layer of excitement to the possible outcomes for Tate's rookie season. With the Titans recently wrapping up offseason workouts, Daboll reflected on the rookie class and offense in general. He dropped the Tate quote fans will love to hear.

Titans OC Brian Daboll drops goldmine quote about rookie WR Carnell Tate

"He's smart," Daboll told Jim Wyatt about Tate. "He's got good ball skills. Everything we saw on tape at Ohio State, he's come in, he's acclimated himself well, as all the rookies have. He's doing what's required right now, and he's doing a nice job. Really like the kid, his personality, his demeanor. For a young player, we've thrown a lot at these guys, and he's picked it up extremely well. I've done this for a long time. In terms of picking it up, he's been one of the top of the skill positions."

That's music to Titans fans ears. Tate was largely outstanding throughout offseason workouts, including a three touchdown performance at the first open practice of OTAs. His chemistry with Ward has already been blossoming, and training camp hasn't even arrived yet.

The Titans are deeper than ever before at wide receiver. In addition to Tate, they also signed Wan'Dale Robinson to a $70 million contract. Calvin Ridley is back after taking a pay cut, and sophomores Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike are expected to develop into useful depth players.

Titans fans have been hoping for a new WR1 since the ill-advised A.J. Brown trade. With such a big offseason investment made in Tate, there's legitimate hope that he'll be a long-term playmaker for Ward. Daboll's quote furthers the Tate offseason hype.
