With the 2026 schedule reveal, the Tennessee Titans can start to analyze when they need to be playing their best football during the season. Arguably, the most crucial stetch of their campaign will come in Weeks 12-14.
By the time the Titans' bye week rolls around in Week 9, they will already have some of their "easier" games behind them. Matchups against the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and New York Giants will already be behind them, and they will get a chance to rest before taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars at home and the Dallas Cowboys on the road. That is when the real test starts.
If the Titans are still competitive at this point in the season, they will then travel on the road for a rematch with the Jaguars. It will be the first AFC South rematch of the season for the Titans, and it will be the first chance to see how the team adapts to what went well and what they need to do differently, which will tell fans a lot about how the current coaching staff is doing.
Titans have crucial 2026 schedule stretch that could define their season
The following week, Robert Saleh's crew will host the Washington Commanders. While the Commanders struggled last year, in 2024, the Commanders embarrassingly dismantled the Titans with a 42-19 beatdown. The only time over the last two years when the Titans have allowed more points was to the Detroit Lions (52) in 2024. Fair or not, this game will be used as a measuring stick of progress for the Mike Borgonzi era.
Speaking of the Lions, that is where this crucial stretch ends. In Week 14, the Titans will travel to Detroit and take on a team looking to rebound from a disappointing 2025 campaign. If the Titans can show up and stay competitive with the Commanders and the Lions, and if nothing else, it will go a long way in repairing the image of the Titans in the eyes of the fan base.
Staying alive in the playoff hunt during that stretch means that the Titans will be able to make one last push for a spot with only the Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers (at home), Indianapolis Colts (at home), and Houston Texans left on the schedule.
It is a lot to ask for a team that has back-to-back three-win seasons, but if they can just stay in the hunt through that stretch, the fans could be in for a wild ride in December.
