The Tennessee Titans did the unthinkable. They traded superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears in exchange for 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, and a 2027 fourth-round selection. General manager Mike Borgonzi is clearly open for business.
The Simmons blockbuster clearly announces the Titans as trade deadline sellers. Borgonzi is attempting to rebuild the roster. Stacking draft capital is the best way to complete a successful rebuild.
More Titans trades will likely be completed before the deadline (Nov. 10). The Simmons shocker is a kickstarter. We've identified five Titans likely to be traded next after Simmons.
5 Titans players who could be traded next after DT Jeffery Simmons
RB Tony Pollard
Veteran running back Tony Pollard is on an expiring contract. That makes him such a clear-cut candidate to be traded. Interest in his services around the league might depend on Jonathan Taylor's availability and/or landing spot. If the Colts decline opportunities to trade Taylor, Pollard is clearly the best experienced RB available. Alternatively, a team that misses out on Taylor could turn attention to Pollard.
DL John Franklin-Myers
The Titans just traded Simmons despite signing him to a three-year extension earlier this offseason. Just about any contract can be traded if there's enough creativity involved. The Titans just signed John Franklin-Myers to a lucrative contract in free agency, but the team is obviously rebuilding. Franklin-Myers is a Robert Saleh favorite, but Borgonzi may favor picks over a 30-year-old defender.
DE Jermaine Johnson
Veteran pass rusher Jermaine Johnson is another experienced Titan on an expiring contract. He's a worthwhile early-down edge setter, and has compiled 3.0 sacks this season. Johnson was brought here to help install Saleh's scheme, but again, picks over expiring deals. His departure would also create more reps for rookie Keldric Faulk and sophomore Femi Oladejo.
CB Alontae Taylor
Trading cornerback Alontae Taylor wouldn't be easy after signing him to a three-year, $58 million contract earlier this offseason. But again, Simmons was just traded despite signing an extension in the summer. Taylor was a healthy scratch for the Titans in Week 5 and hasn't played since. Borgonzi might be searching for creative solutions to shed his contract.
WR Calvin Ridley
Does Calvin Ridley have any salvageable trade value left? The Titans haven't consistently involved him on offense this season, as he splits WR3 reps with Elic Ayomanor. Still, Ridley has looked spry despite the lack of production, which is more of a Cam Ward and Brian Daboll issue. The Titans are expected to release him next offseason, so trading him now would be good business.
