Welp, that one-game winning streak was fun while it lasted but now the Tennessee Titans are back in the loss column after the Cleveland Browns hit a walkoff field goal to win 27-24 in Week 7. The Browns are celebrating back-to-back wins, something that the Titans haven't been able to do since 2022 when Mike Vrabel was the head coach.
The Titans had momentum coming into this game with their 26-20 comeback win against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, and early on it looked like Tony Pollard was going to be the MVP for the Titans if they won this game.
Being in the final year of his contract with the Titans and with a new coaching staff, there was chatter amongst the fanbase on whether or not Pollard would be part of the Titans in 2026. However, the Titans kept Pollard and he finally broke out against a good Browns defense.
Tony Pollard shines in Titans' heartbreaking loss to Browns
Coming into Week 7, Pollard had rushed for 349 yards and one touchdown in six games. Against the Browns, Pollard rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns, averaging over 5.0 yards per carry. With the Titans dropping to 1-6 on the year, and the NFL trade deadline nearing, it's time for the Titans to make the Tony Pollard trade to maximize his value after this breakout game from him.
If Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh know that Pollard is not part of the long-term future of the Titans, then it's time to find a RB-needy team who could use Pollard as a rental for the rest of the season.
Titans must gain maximum value for Tony Pollard after Week 7 breakout
Let's face it, unless the Titans somehow make a complete 180-turn and make a run here going into November and December, this season should just be about development and looking to find ways to improve for next season. With the trade deadline coming up here soon (Tuesday, November 10th), trading away Pollard in the final year of his contract makes too much sense not to happen.
There are plenty of teams that could use someone like Pollard to help them contend. Even if the Titans get just a 5th or 6th-round pick for Pollard, it's better than losing him in March for nothing.
The Titans will now turn their attention towards the Cincinnati Bengals before their Week 9 bye week, but they have to explore the idea of seeing what Pollard's value is after this impressive game against the Browns.
