The Tennessee Titans enter Sunday's Week 14 game versus the Cleveland Browns as the NFL's only one-win team. At 1-11, the Titans currently possess a 47.6% chance to earn the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. A loss to the Browns would increase those odds to 66%, per ESPN Analytics.
If the Titans clinch the top pick for a second consecutive NFL Draft, there will be no debate over how general manager Mike Borgonzi should maximize the opportunity. Having drafted quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall last year, the Titans would have interest in trading this year's top pick to the highest bidder. A number of QB-needy teams could have interest in trading up.
The Titans' best potential trade partner is starting to become abundantly clear. The New York Jets might be the Titans' ideal negotiator. It wouldn't be surprising if Mike Borgonzi swung a blockbuster deal with Jets GM Darren Mougey.
Titans' ideal trade partner for potential no. 1 pick in 2026 NFL Draft
The Jets enter Week 14 with a 3-9 record after upsetting the Atlanta Falcons last weekend. They are currently slotted to choose at no. 7 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. That isn't the ideal draft positioning for a Jets franchise that desperately needs a franchise quarterback.
The Jets benched starting quarterback Justin Fields earlier this season. Tyrod Taylor, a 36-year-old journeyman, is currently serving as the starter. The Jets will probably target Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore, or Ty Simpson in the 2026 draft. Given their current standing, they'll almost certainly have to move up to guarantee one of those quarterback prospects.
Mougey, the Jets' GM, is equipped with the draft capital needed to execute an aggressive trade-up. After trading Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner at the deadline, the Jets are equipped with five total first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. The Titans would love to get their hands on some of that capital so they can continue building the roster around Ward.
The 2027 draft is shaping up to be potentially generational with wide receivers with Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Williams eligible to declare. A number of teams will contact Borgonzi if the Titans clinch the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Hopefully the Jets are among them.
