There are few, if any, names in the draft community who are more respected than Dane Brugler. However, Tennessee Titans fans have to be praying that he is wrong after his recent seven-round mock draft that largely neglects Cam Ward and his development.
Here are the picks that Brugler made for the Titans:
1 (4). David Bailey, edge, Texas Tech
2 (35). Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State
3 (66). Keionte Scott, DB, Miami
4 (101). Connor Lew, C, Auburn
5 (142). VJ Payne, S, Kansas State
5 (144). Billy Schrauth, G, Notre Dame
6 (184). Kendrick Law, WR, Kentucky
6 (194). Jordan van den Berg, DT, Georgia Tech
7 (225). Deontae Lawson, LB, Alabama
On first glance, that is an interesting mock draft. You can see one of the best players in the class at a premium position, two offensive linemen in the top-101, two physical defensive backs to round out an offseason of rebuilding that room, and then some value picks and depth moves to conclude the draft.
The problem is when you dig down into what the Titans actually get done with this draft. Do they make life easier for Cam Ward? No.
Sure, in this mock, the Titans drafted Iheanachor in the second round, but he is a swing tackle who will have to sit on the bench for at least one season. They also spend the 101st pick on a center, but he is coming off of an ACL tear that won't be ready before training camp. That means that center and right guard remain as much of a problem as they were when the draft started and the offensive line isn't improved at all in 2026.
How about weapons? Nope, Brugler doesn't do that either, and the only skill player drafted is Law, a sixth-round slot receiver who never produced in college.
Picking Bailey in the first is a good start, but with this draft class, there would be too many needs left unaddressed. Titans fans would have to witness another hopeless season before picking right outside of the range of elite talent in the 2027 NFL Draft class.
On top of that, they wouldn't make life easier for the most important player in the franchise: Cam Ward. This draft would be terrible for the Titans on many levels, and fans need to continue to pray that Brugler is wrong, especially about every pick after the first round.
