The Tennessee Titans have more cap space than anyone else in the NFL by a mile, and several available free agents would help this team if Mike Borgonzi gave them a call. However, PFSN recently released a list of their top remaining free agents and where they would like to see them land, and Titans fans won't appreciate who they are being linked with.
In that list of the top-25 remaining free agents, the Titans are matched with two players. The first one was Mario Edwards, who previously played for the organization. Adding Edwards would actually make sense, and perhaps the fan base could get on board with this signing.
"Mario Edwards Jr. has never truly been an elite contributor at the NFL level, but he’s always been a serviceable rotational defensive tackle with some pass-rushing juice," Jacob Infante wrote. "Now 32 years old and having just 1.5 sacks with the Texans last year, he figures to be plugged in as a backup interior defender whenever he does end up signing."
Tennessee Titans linked to multiple free agents who would generate mixed reviews
Right now, the Titans' starting defensive line looks like it could be special. Still, Robert Saleh's defense is built around sending waves of defenders at offenses instead of relying on just one or two dominant players. As it stands today, the team lacks the depth they need, and Edwards is exactly the kind of player who can bring intensity and explosion to the second wave of linemen.
The other one is a little bit out of left field. Several positions could have been connected to the Titans, like EDGE, guard, swing tackle, or even defensive back. However, PFSN suggested that the team should target off-ball linebacker Devin White. They said,
"Devin White lit up the stat sheet in 2025, ranking second in the NFL with 174 total tackles and tallying 11 tackles for a loss with 2.5 sacks for the Raiders. One could argue whether his impact on the field was as large as his impact on the box score, but with such a large tackle sum, he’s sure to find a landing spot before the season."
The Titans already have too many linebackers, so this one is a bit of a head-scratcher. Cedric Gray was a tackling machine last season, and looks like he could be a guy that the Titans re-sign when the time comes. Cody Barton's contract makes him borderline untouchable, but that doesn't mean he will start because second-round pick Anthony Hill Jr. is going to make a strong push to start beside Gray.
Signing another linebacker just makes it harder to clarify the pecking order at the position, and fans are much more interested in seeing them target someone with a more obvious scheme fit.
