Titans surprisingly urged to avoid drafting top EDGE prospect (but it makes sense)

Even though this year’s NFL Draft class is not exactly one of the best ones we have seen in quite sometime, there are still plenty of solid prospects that will hear their name called between Thursday and Saturday. Luckily, the Tennessee Titans won’t have to wait long to make a selection as they have the fourth overall pick.

Now granted, maybe there is a world where Mike Borgonzi ends up trading back to gain extra picks. However, if the Titans feel strongly about a specific prospect to make them a Top 5 pick, then they need to go for it.

There is a lot of noise about the Titans potentially landing Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. Titans fans should be over-the-moon with excitement if they land the best player in the draft. At the same time, anything can happen in the draft and there could be a potential scenario where Love goes off the board before the 4th pick.

NFL Draft: Tennessee Titans urged to avoid top pass rushing prospect

If that does indeed happen, the Titans will then have to pivot and decide what to do if Love was their main target. There are plenty of top prospects that Tennessee could have available to them, but Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report is urging the Titans to stay clear of Ohio State EDGE Arvell Reese.

"Robert Saleh's defense tends to have defined roles. Reese's best projection for Tennessee would be as his Wide-9 rusher, but at 241 pounds, Reese would have to change his body and deepen his pass rush moves to work out." said Ballentine.

When it comes to the defense that Robert Saleh will be running in Nashville, Reese doesn’t exactly have a defined role. Whatever team drafts him will have to figure that out. Since the Titans already went heavy on defense in free agency, it makes too much sense for them to bring in offensive help in this draft.

That's why drafting Love should be the main priority for Tennessee, but we all know that anything can happen once the clock starts.

Reese is a very special player who could have a ton of success in this league. But with what the Titans are looking to become, they need to add more to the offense and they also need defensive help where the coaching staff will know exactly how to utilize the talent.
