The Tennessee Titans have been incredibly active in free agency. General manager Mike Borgonzi has agreed to terms with 12 new players in a quick reset of the 53-man roster. The defense has received the majority of Borgonzi's attention, with three new cornerbacks and defensive linemen John Franklin-Myers joining Robert Saleh's unit.
The offense received an injection of productivity via the arrival of high-volume wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson. Robinson should be a high-floor target for sophomore quarterback Cam Ward. Meanwhile, the offensive line is currently in a concerning state.
The Titans cut center Lloyd Cushenberry with a failed physical designation. They responded by signing veteran journeyman Austin Schlottmann. Meanwhile right guard Kevin Zeitler is an unrestricted free agent. The Titans' next move should be to re-sign Zeitler to secure the offensive line.
Titans have a crystal-clear need to re-sign Kevin Zeitler
If the Titans' plan at center is for Schlottmann and sophomore Jackson Slater to compete for the gig, that's borderline concerning. The Titans can't enter training camp with a glaring need at right guard as well. Re-signing Zeitler is imperative to continuing the progress the offensive line flashed down the stretch of the 2025 campaign.
Paul Kuharsky recently reported that the aging Zeitler plans to return for a 15th season. The veteran blocker is simply evaluating his options, and the Titans are doing the same. Zeitler, a steady hand, surely has several suitors in free agency. The Titans should hope he chooses to return to Tennessee.
Pro Football Focus credited Zeitler with allowing just four sacks and 16 quarterback pressures a year ago. He had PFF's eighth-best blocking grade among all guards (75.4, minimum qualifiers). The Titans appreciated his reliability.
Ward is the Titans' most important investment. The offensive line isn't adequate as currently constructed. Re-signing Zeitler would go a long way towards calming the ongoing concern.
