The Tennessee Titans must acquire multiple cornerbacks this offseason. The team traded away Roger McCreary and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. during the season. The expectation is that the oft-injured L'Jarius Sneed will be released this summer.

The Titans do not have a surefire starter on the roster. Sixth-round rookie Marcus Harris performed admirably at nickel corner before suffering a season-ending injury. There is intrigue, but the sample size was small, and he'll have to return as a sophomore ready to earn additional reps.

What the Titans do possess is cap space in abundance. General manager Mike Borgonzi is slated to have a league-leading $103.5 million in financial flexibility, and that's before creating additional room through extensions and releases. One cornerback the Titans could target in free agency is Montaric Brown, who plays in the AFC South for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Titans could target Jaguars CB Montaric Brown in NFL free agency

The Jaguars selected Brown with the 222nd pick in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The former Arkansas standout was mostly limited to special teams as a rookie, but played a sizable 475 snaps as a sophomore. Brown then fully broke out as a third-year defender in 2024, recording a career-high 75 tackles.

Brown arguably took another developmental step forward this past campaign, the final season of his rookie contract. The 6-foot, 190 pound defensive back registeted a career-high 12 pass breakups. Pro Football Focus assigned Brown a personal-best defensive grade of 72.8, with a stellar 75.5 score in coverage.

Opposing quarterbacks saw a passer rating of 73.5 when targeting Brown in coverage. That was 12th-best in the NFL among cornerbacks who played at least 50% of their team's coverage snaps. Brown was playing lockdown snaps for the Jaguars.

Spotrac projects Brown to sign a three-year contract in free agency worth approximately $27.6 million. If that prediction becomes reality, Brown would be an underrated addition for his next team at an average annual salary of $9.2 million. The Titans should absolutely be willing to negotiate similar terms with the competitive cornerback.

Signing Brown away from the division rival Jaguars would be an added bonus.
