With what we saw this season with the New England Patriots and their quick turnaround under Mike Vrabel, the Tennessee Titans should be striving to achieve that goal as well. Granted, to expect the Titans to win 14 games and make the Super Bowl is a near-impossible ask, but the 2025 NFL season provided evidence that a quick turnaround is possible.
Mike Borgonzi will have to attack this offseason, and you could argue that it shouldn’t just be through free agency or the draft. Maybe he will have to put together a trade that gives the Titans an immediate playmaker to pair with franchise quarterback Cam Ward.
Trading for a player requires complicated negotiations. It comes down to compensation, and even timing as well. Some trades happen immediately, and some take forever to be completed. One team that could very well be a seller this offseason is the Miami Dolphins, who are rebuilding under Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley.
Titans may have huge opportunity to land Dolphins WR this offseason
Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone listed three teams that could be a landing spot for wideout Jaylen Waddle if the Dolphins decide to trade him. The Titans were one of those teams. The other two were the Commanders and Broncos.
Specifically, Bedinger talked about how the Giants, where Brian Daboll was last season, were looking to see if they could possibly get Waddle.
"The Giants -- with Brian Daboll as their head coach -- were active in trying to get Waddle before last year's trade deadline. You'd have to think Daboll would still be interested in getting him now that he's in Tennessee." said Bedinger.
Waddle is right in the middle of his prime, and the Dolphins are heading into a direction where they won’t have a franchise quarterback. At that point, you would think that Miami would look to do whatever they can to maximize the value that their current players have. Waddle is by far their best asset.
Coming off his second consecutive season of not reaching 1,000-plus receiving yards, a change of scenery might be what Waddle needs, and Tennessee would be a great landing spot for him. He automatically becomes the No. 1 wideout in the offense, and he gets a quarterback in Ward that showed tons of flashes as a rookie.
Waddle was heavily monitored at the trade deadline last season, and there should be no surprise if the same thing happens this offseason, as well as a potential trade somewhere that has him leaving south beach.
