The Tennessee Titans are slated to enter free agency with more than $100 million in cap space. They don’t need to find a quarterback, as sophomore Cam Ward's arrow is pointing up now that he gets Brian Daboll as his offensive coordinator.

New head coach Robert Saleh will be calling the defense, so that factor should really help his unit improve. At the same time, Mike Borgonzi has to bring in the playmakers that will excel in Saleh’s defense. Tennessee needs help with their pass rush and while they could very well utilize the 4th overall pick on it, getting a proven veteran is not a bad idea either.

They just have to make sure it's the right fit. One of the players the Titans have been linked to is Cincinnati Bengals EDGE Trey Hendrickson. Perhaps the 31-year-old Hendrickson, who is coming off season-ending surgery, isn't the best fit for a rebuilding Titans team.

Trey Hendrickson would be a risky free-agency gamble for the Titans

John Breech from CBS Sports recently wrote about Hendrickson and what his future could be, considering the drama that he and the Bengals went through last offseason. Now, Hendrickson is expected to be a coveted option for teams searching for pass-rushing help in free agency.

Breech listed the Titans as a possible landing spot for Hendrickson.

"The Titans have more cap space than anyone. If Hendrickson chases the biggest paycheck, this fit makes sense. And let's not forget: Robert Saleh is a defensive coach, so he'll certainly be looking for some game wreckers on that side of the ball." said Breech.

Hendrickson missed 10 games due to injury last season, recording just four sacks. He notched 35 sacks and five forced fumbles in 2023-24. Whoever signs Hendrickson would love to guarantee themselves that version, but the reality is that he carries massive risk heading into 2026.

The Bengals have been horrible on defense, and Hendrickson was the only player that was keeping them in games on defense. Cincinnati has been historically bad at times, yet Hendrickson was still one of the best players in football. He deserves to join a contender where mutual interest is present.

That shouldn't happen in Tennessee.
