Tennessee Titans fans won’t have to wait long to see who Mike Borgonzi will be bringing to Nashville in the first round of the NFL Draft. Tennessee currently holds the 4th overall pick and with them not needing a quarterback, they can be flexible with who they target with their top-five selection.

Free agency was all about the defense, but they did add a wide receiver in Wan’Dale Robinson for Cam Ward, who reunites with Brian Daboll from their time with the New York Giants. The Titans are also keeping Calvin Ridley on the roster, so the Titans have their top two targets for Ward on the outside.

However, the Titans find themselves being listed as a team that “most needs to select a wide receiver”. Matt Okada from NFL.com listed the Titans as a team that needs to draft a wide receiver, and even discussed the idea of trading down from the 4th pick as a potential option.

"Tennessee must find a legitimate top target for Ward to improve last season's 30th-ranked passing attack, possibly by trading down from fourth overall, trading up into the late first round or hitting on a WR prospect on Day 2." said Okada.

Titans should not ignore WR position in NFL Draft (but they must prioritize other positions first)

Overall, Tennessee has to provide Daboll and Ward with more help. With a young quarterback on a rookie deal who looks like a franchise guy, obviously it’s important to maximize his value before the time comes to pay him a market contract. At the same time, maximizing Ward's value can mean many things.

While the Titans had a lackluster passing attack last season, let’s not forget that Ward was sacked 55 times. The Titans still have to build up their offensive line in order to protect Ward. You can have great receivers, but it doesn't matter if you don’t have adequate protection to go along with it.

In addition, the Titans could use a big boost at running back. A best friend for a young quarterback is a solid rushing attack, and that’s where someone like Jeremiyah Love can come to Tennessee at become an instant impactful player.

Love wouldn’t just take pressure off of the offense overall, he would be someone who can also catch passes from Ward out of the back field. He was electric at Notre Dame and you can make the case that he is the best overall prospect in this draft.

Tennessee should draft another receiver, but there are so many other holes that Borgonzi can fill in order to support Ward. No receiver is worth taking in the top five (other than maybe Carnell Tate?), but Love is an instant playmaker who could give the Titans the boost on offense that they desperately need.
