The upcoming 2026 season is a massive one for Tennessee Titans right tackle JC Latham. As a 2024 first-round pick, the Titans will have to make a decision on Latham's fifth-year contract option next offseason, and he'll also become eligible for an extension. Well, he's primed to begin training camp on the wrong foot.
The Titans placed Latham on the Physically Unable to Perform List (PUP), the team confirmed. Safety Amani Hooker was also placed on the list. Players placed on the PUP during training camp can be activated at any time.
The Titans moved Latham from left tackle to his more natural right tackle position last offseason. Everything appeared set for Latham to have a breakout sophomore season. Unfortunately, he aggravated a training camp injury in Week 1 that would hamper significant portions of his season. He finished the campaign as an inconsistent player who clearly wasn't 100%. Now, he's dealing with a minor injury before camp even starts.

This'll be Latham's first NFL offseason where he isn't undergoing a position change. Now dealing with an undisclosed minor injury, the former Alabama standout has another roadblock to clear. A potential bounce-back season looms large, but getting healthy is the first priority.
Pro Football Focus credited Latham with allowing eight sacks last season. The Meridian, Mississippi native was also tagged with being whistled for an astounding 14 penalties. It was these moments of inconsistency that ruined an otherwise decent season.
The Titans hired Carmen Bricillo as their new offensive line position coach. Bricillo has quite the reputation for improving offensive line play after upgrading the units he recently coached for the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants. Arguably no Titans blocker is better set up to benefit from his presence this season than Latham, a naturally gifted tackle that is capable of more.
Latham will also have a new right-sided partner in 2026. The Titans will host a competition at right guard between sophomore Jackson Slater and free-agent addition Cordell Volson. It remains to be seen how that will impact Latham. Perhaps it'll have zero impact considering playing next to proven veteran Kevin Zeitler changed nothing for Latham in 2025.
Latham needs to stay healthy and consistent in 2026. Recapturing his pre-injury form is the ultimate goal for the first-round offensive tackle, but camp is already getting off on the wrong foot. So while Latham disappointed in 2025, hopefully the stars start aligning for him to endure a bounce-back campaign in 2026.
