When JC Latham is on the field and healthy for the Tennessee Titans, he is one of the more underrated offensive tackles in the NFL.
While he hasn't risen at the same rate as future Pro Bowler Peter Skoronski, Latham put in some really solid games against talented opponents. He is big and powerful with long limbs, and even though he lacks a mean streak, he does his job consistently, which is more than most tackles can say in this era of offensive line play.
But (and it is a big but), Latham hasn't been fully healthy consistently enough, and when he is less than 100%, he is noticeably worse. You could clearly see that on tape to start the season last year when he rushed back from a training camp injury.
Tennessee Titans OT JC Latham faces a make-or-break season in 2026
Latham reportedly looked as good as a lineman can in non-padded drills in OTAs, and there were brief glimpses of him seemingly being more vocal and showing some fire. That is a great sign for the former Alabama standout because the Titans need him, and he needs to win back this fan base if he wants to put pressure on the Titans to sign him to a big deal soon.
However, injuries have once again reared their ugly head for Latham, who Robert Saleh confirmed was working through a physical setback at mandatory minicamp. It means Latham ended offseason workouts on a sour note.
While there is normally enough time for a player to get healthy before training camp, Latham's history has to make coaches concerned. Optimists will say he plays through injury, pessimists will say that he heals slowly, but either way, injuries have lingered with Latham through the last 18 months of his career. That's notable with the Titans having to make a decision on his fifth-year option next summer.
Entering his third season, this could be the year that the Titans' offensive line starts to turn the narrative about them around. Skoronski will do his part, Dan Moore can be average, and Austin Schlottmann was hand-picked for elevation by the excellent offensive line coach, Carmen Bricillo. If Latham can just be the player he was drafted to be, then Cam Ward will be in an excellent position to put the Titans' offense on the map.
