Titans' ideal trade partner for Chig Okonkwo could not be more obvious

The Tennessee Titans have understandably been included often in the rumor mill ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. With a 1-7 record heading into Week 9, the Titans have every reason to put one eye on the future and determine which players will be part of the core going forward, and which players they want to swap for future NFL Draft darts.

We already saw the team get a move on it by trading cornerback Roger McCreary to the cornerback-needy Los Angeles Rams. Just like the Rams were an obvious destination for cornerbacks ahead of the trade deadline (November 4), we might have an obvious contender for a team most desperate for help at tight end.

That team is none other than the Denver Broncos, the Titans' Week 1 opponent.

Broncos could be an ideal landing spot for Titans TE Chig Okonkwo

The Titans have every reason to give over the TE1 duties to Gunnar Helm moving forward. Part of making trades at the deadline is to get young players more opportunities, and moving Okonkwo for future capital and diving head-first into the Helm TE1 era would not be a bad idea for Titans GM Mike Borgonzi.

Helm is only 100 snaps behind Okonwko anyway, at this point.

So what makes the Broncos an ideal fit before the trade deadline? What makes them an obvious landing spot?

Well, what else at this time of year? Injuries.

The Broncos just tried to claim not only one but two tight ends off of waivers. Both Brendan Bates and Ben Sims are more of the blocking variety than someone like Okonkwo, who is known more for his dynamic athleticism and pass-catching abilities.

The Broncos might still be an ideal landing spot for him given their need for bodies at the position, regardless.

They've lost Lucas Krull to injury and Nate Adkins, a versatile player for them, also just suffered what appears to be a rather serious knee injury against the Cowboys in Week 8.

The Broncos also have 10 draft picks in their 2026 NFL Draft war chest to play with, and could very well send the Titans something nice in exchange for Okonkwo if they feel he would be a fit.

At this point, the expectation is that we'll see at least another move or two from the Titans after letting go of veteran WR Tyler Lockett and trading McCreary to the Rams. An Okonkwo trade isn't exactly a foregone conclusion, but if there's any team you could see lining up to get him, it's got to be Denver.
