Titans go in questionable direction in latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
By Will Lomas
It's only December and there are several paths that the Tennessee Titans could take in the 2025 NFL Draft. Out of all of those paths, the one that Danny Kelly presents in his first mock draft for The Ringer seems like the least likely.
Kelly posted his first 2025 NFL mock draft and the pick made for the Titans is a highly questionable one.
General manager Ran Carthon will possess plenty of time to fall in love with his favorite prospects as the process goes on. The Titans are likely keeping an open mind, conisdering we're more than four months away from April's festivities. Being most interested in the best value they can get at a position of need with their first-round pick is the likely path forward.
The Titans have several needs across their roster. Premium ones, like right tackle, EDGE, and even wide receiver exist. That's why it was surprising to see Kelly select Michigan cornerback Will Johnson for the Titans in his Ringer mock draft.
After enduring the Will Levis roller coaster this year, the Titans could be in the market for a quarterback with this pick," Kelly wrote. "But with big question marks around pretty much all of the signal callers still on the board here (and, really, with all the quarterbacks in this class), Tennessee opts instead for a polished, game-ready corner. The Michigan standout has excellent size and quick feet, and he closes on the ball almost instantaneously. He shows great instincts in coverage, and with nine career interceptions, including three pick-sixes, he brings proven ball production to the pros."
You know what the Titans don't need even a little bit? A cornerback.
The Titans already had Roger McCreary and invested heavily in cornerback this offseason with a trade for L'Jarius Sneed, a lucrative free-agent contract for Chidobe Awuzie, and by drafting (stealing) Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in the fifth round.
While Sneed and Awuzie were banged up this season, there is almost no world where they give up on either or both veteran additions this offseason. Behind those starters, Brownlee Jr. has offered exceptional value on Day 3, quickly become a fan favorite because of his sticky coverage abilities and physicality.
In Kelly's mock, major positions of need like EDGE and offensive tackle were taken with four of the next five selections, all of which would have been more sensible selections than a cornerback. That includes Mykel Williams, who Dane Brugler had the Titans taking in his first 2025 mock draft.
