The Tennessee Titans are in for another swath of changes at the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season. Nobody expected this to necessarily be a year where the team pushed for the postseason, but it was expected that the Tennessee would take a step in the right direction.
Cam Ward has certainly showed his stuff, and a handful of other rookies like Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor look incredibly promising as well. But the Titans just have too many pieces of the puzzle to figure out right now, namely, who they'll hire to fill their head coach vacancy.
Plus, the delineation of duties in the Tennessee front office are a bit confusing, as the lines are blurred between what falls under general manager Mike Borgonzi's perview and what the job of Chad Brinker is, who is the President of Football Operations.
Titans finally drew lines in the sand for Mike Borgonzi, Chad Brinker
Well, Titans fans finally got some clarity on that just before the season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Friday, owner Amy Adams Strunk released a statement clarifying the power structure in Tennessee, and this was a move that they absolutely had to make.

Finally, the Titans' front office can start functioning like the other, more successful franchises do. Obviously, the two will still bounce ideas off each other and work together on things, but a firm dissection of duties has been in order for quite some time.
Perhaps the biggest benefit of this move is that any potential head coach candidates now have clarity on the setup in Tennessee. It's an eerie feeling not really knowing who your boss is or who you have to respond to, so this should dim some worry.

Neither Brinker nor Borgonzi has been around the Titans for very long, but the two come from successful front offices in Green Bay and Kansas City, respectively. Surely, they knew that the arrangement they had wasn't efficient or maximizing things in any way.
With Borgonzi leading the search for the team's next head coach, fans may be terrified of a boring hire like Matt Nagy or Steve Spagnuolo from the Chiefs tree. But Borgonzi has other connections around the league to lean on, namely his brother, a linebackers coach for the Dallas Cowboys.
It will be interesting to see what kind of residual effect this decision will have. At the very least, if things go sideways again in Tennessee next year, it will be easy to trace back certain faults to one or the other. Or perhaps both.
