There has been precious little to write home about for the Tennessee Titans this season, but it looks like brand-new GM Mike Borgonzi appears to have hit a home run with the selection of wide receiver Chimere Dike in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Dike has not only has emerged as a reliable underneath target for Cam Ward, but he has made his mark as one of the best returners in the league. Not even a three-win Titans team was enough for the Pro Bowl voters to keep Dike off this very prestigous stage.
Dike was selected to the Pro Bowl as the AFC's kick returner over names like Denver's Marvin Mims and New York's Isaiah Williams. In a season that has not been very positive for Titans fans, this embattled group will love seeing how happy Dike's teammates were for him when the announcement became official.
Special teams coordinator John Fassel was able to break the news before the team, which led to a huge roar of celebration and Dike's fellow Titans teammates swarming him. This team is in a much better spot vibes-wise of late, and Dike's success is part of why they've been able to reel off some wins.
Titans' reaction to Chimere Dike making Pro Bowl is awesome
Not only is Dike leading the NFL in kick return yards, but he is also third in punt return yards while notching two different punt touchdowns. Fassel has a reputation as one of the best special teams coaches in the NFL, and Dike's play might be proof of his excellence.
Dike's speed was always going to be his calling card in the pros, and he's put that ability to accelerate to good use as both a leader of Tennessee's special teams unit and one of Ward's few reliable targets in what has been a very trying rookie season for the former top pick.
The cherry on top of this tremendous rookie season has been Dike's emergence as a pass-catcher. Dike has the most catches of any Titans wide receiver with 41, and he is second behind Elic Ayomanor in receiving yards among Tennessee receivers.
Borgonzi needs a few more awesome drafts back-to-back before Titans fans can start to consider themselves as a viable playoff contender once again, but if fourth-round players like Dike are already Pro Bowlers during their rookie year, Borgonzi may continue to crush it.
