The new-look Tennessee Titans will take the field for a Week 1 battle against the New York Jets, in which Robert Saleh will get his first chance at revenge against his old team. It’s the start of something new in Nashville and this is a chance for Saleh to not only change the narrative about himself as a head coach, but also turn the Titans around.
Tennessee is looking to improve in many different ways, which includes just winning more football games. Over the last two seasons, the Titans have won 6 games…that is completely unacceptable. With the personnel and roster upgrades, the Titans are setting themselves up to hopefuly surprise a bunch of NFL fans.
With upgrades in the coaching staff and overall talent, Tennessee has the chance to to make some noise. Will they be playoff bound? That could be a stretch, but it's not totally out of the question. At the same time, they face a major obstacle to overcome that is simply out of their control.
Race for AFC South title offers tough path for Tennesse Titans
Garrett Podell of CBS Sports projected the Titans to be one of the teams that will finish last in their respective divisions, but it has little to do with their own talent on the roster. Podell pointed out just hos tough each AFC South team could be based off of last season.
"This is less of an indictment on the Tennessee Titans and more of a salute to the rest of the AFC South. The Houston Texans have the most ferocious defense in football led by All-Pro edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter. The Jacksonville Jaguars are the defending division champs with quarterback Trevor Lawrence fresh off a fifth-place finish in league MVP voting after he produced 38 total touchdowns, the third-most in the NFL in 2025. Plus, the Indianapolis Colts looked like a playoff team before Daniel Jones' season-ending Achilles tear." said Podell.
It's possible that the AFC South title comes down to Houston and Jacksonville once again. The Jaguars won it last season, but just barely. Before Indianapolis lost Daniel Jones to a season-ending injury, they were the best team in football. Now they have brought him back with hopes that he can return to that form.
Then you have the Titans, who could be a big surprise if things go right. Even then, the AFC South could be one of the toughest divisions in football. Tennessee could very well end up at the bottom of the division, but not because of their own doing, just simply because of the talent within the divison.
